The handle is spaulted River Birch that took Dr. Miller a year and a half to make.  Three-foot long River Birch logs are placed on short stands in the woods.  Fungi invade the logs and grow into them (that is what makes the black lines in the wood). Once developed the logs are cut into 2x2x6 inch blocks.  The blocks are then stabilized and dyed before being cut into scales and put on the knife.  The blade is D2 tool steel.  The sheath is custom fitted to the knife.

iExaminer/Pan Optic Kit, Item #1142-16
Value: $1,030
The Welch Allyn iExaminer turns the PanOptic Ophthalmoscope into a mobile digital imaging device allowing you to view and take pictures of the eye like you’ve never done before. The adapter aligns the optical access of the PanOptic Ophthalmoscope to the visual axis of the iPhone camera to capture high resolution* pictures of the fundus and retinal nerve. The iExaminer App then allows you to store the pictures to a patient file or email and print them. And, because the PanOptic Ophthalmoscope provides a 5x larger view of the fundus than a standard Welch Allyn ophthalmoscope and 25° field-of-view without having to dilate the pupil, the fundus imaging can happen anytime, anywhere. Compatible with iPhone 6, 6s and 6 Plus models.
*Per iPhone Specs.  Donated by Welch Allyn
